Brief History of Hotel Oregon
Over the years, Hotel Oregon has housed apartments and businesses of various kinds. The original Hotel Oregon building, constructed in 1905, consisted of only two stories. The original name of the building was Hotel Elberton. In 1910, the third and fourth stories were added, along with an elevator in 1932. At the same time, the name of the building changed to “Hotel Oregon”. McMenamins’ began renovation to Hotel Oregon in 1998, preserving its history, while adding additional character with eccentric artwork and added touches.

Guests entering Hotel Oregon from the Evans Street Entryway, walk into a spacious hall, ornately decorated in the Victorian period, with the Paragon Room to the left, stairway straight ahead and pub to the right. The Paragon Room accommodates those wishing to relax in a lounge setting, complete with deluxe pool tables.
The spacious pub, fronting 3rd Street, contains a 40-foot bar with oak cabinets and leaded glass. Enjoy fresh, creative menu items at the massive bar, built-in booths, or tables. McMinnville’s residents and college students at Linfield College enjoy a relaxed atmosphere for in-town lunch and dinner options. Guests staying overnight can enjoy fresh Blueberry Pancakes.
Guest rooms are available, with private or shared bath, from $50 – $120, depending on size. A variety of lodging packages are available, based on a queen European-style room for two guests. Many lodging packages include admission to local attractions like the Evergreen Aviation Museum or Wine Country tours.
McMenamins offers guests a self-guided walking tour of the art and history of Hotel Oregon, a written guide to the artwork, decorative furnishings, and history of Hotel Oregon. Visitors are encouraged to tour the whole building, from the basement Cellar Bar to the Rooftop Bar.
McMenamins Food and Beer
Guests familiarized with McMenamins will find a recognizable menu, offering many items available at the 56 brewpubs and restaurants found in the McMenamins’ “Kingdom of Fun” located throughout western Washington and Oregon. The well-known burgers are offered on the menu, including the Wilbur’s Jumbo Deluxe burger, complete with bacon, Tillamook cheddar cheese and a fried egg on top.
The menu at McMenamins Hotel Oregon does offer guests special items specific to the McMinnville location, including the Evans Street Cheese Pizza, loaded with mozzarella and Parmesan. Guests enjoy appetizers like Chipotle Pico de Gallo or the Hummus Plate while waiting for the main dishes. Desserts include a Terminator-Chocolate Milkshake or Ruby Raspberry Milkshake. Guests also enjoy freshly roasted coffee from the McMenamins Roastery.
McMenamins celebrates beer-making as an art-form. To take in the full range of fresh craft beers available from McMenamins, guests can try the McMenamins Ale Sampler. Beers range from the light and fruity Ruby Ale, a red raspberry ale, to the Hammerhead Ale, a hoppy American pale ale, to a darker Porter, a smoky-tasting dark ale with hints of chocolate and coffee, and lastly, the Terminator Stout, the darkest and most full-bodied robust beer. McMenamins also offers seasonal beers and guest beers. Make sure to ask which beer is available on “Nitro”, which produces a rich, thick, creamy, soft texture.
Food at McMenamins is reasonably priced, with food and beer discounts available during Happy Hours from 4-6pm and 10pm to close.
Events at McMenamins Hotel Oregon
Each year, McMenamins Hotel Oregon hosts the annual UFO Festival, to honor the famous 1950 Trent sighting at a local McMinnville farm.
