Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge – Gold Beach, OR

Unique Oregon Inn near California and Coast

Close to Gold Beach in Oregon and the Pacific Coast Highway, the Tu Tu Tun Lodge is a Unique Inn in a remote setting by the Rogue River not far from the California border.

Seven miles inland from Oregon’s Gold Beach and the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 101), the Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge is a luxury rural retreat on the Rogue River. Surrounded by quiet woodland, and with eagles and ospreys nesting in the trees on the far bank of the river, the Lodge is an idyllic escape in southwest Oregon, and not too far from the California state border either.

Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge Activities

Watching the wildlife from the balcony of the guest bedrooms, perhaps even from the private hot tub, is just one of the activities on offer – though guests can be as inactive as they wish. The more energetic types may want to go hiking, cycling, kayaking, fishing, or taking a white water jet boat excursion. All these activities can be arranged through the Lodge, which also has a putting green and an outdoor pool. Garden tours can also be booked with the Lodge’s gardener, and the Lodge works with several nearby golf courses for any golfing guests: Bandon Dunes and Salmon Run, both an hour’s drive away, and the local course at Cedar Bend, just twenty minutes away.

Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge Dining

The Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge also has its own on-site restaurant offering full-service dining from May to October. Breakfast and dinner are served overlooking the Rogue River, while prior to dinner at 6.15pm are complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks, enabling guests to mix together in the lounge with its huge river-rock fireplace. The chef specializes in fresh local ingredients like forest berries, wild organic mushrooms, and fresh Oregon salmon.

Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge History

This Oregon lodge opened for business in 1970 and takes its unusual name from the local Tu Tu’ Tunne Rogue Indians, who once had an encampment at this peaceful spot by the side of the river.

Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge Accommodation

In addition to the sixteen regular rooms, which are luxurious enough, there are also two spacious suites above the main lodge building and two private houses in the lodge grounds. The houses can sleep up to six people, and the suites up to four guests.
